A WINDOW ON THE FUTURE
THROUGH WINDOWS
OF THE PAST
The site of the Old Royal has been used for both residential
and passing trade purposes since the late 1800s. The original timber
building burnt down in about 1907. The new brick Royal Hotel was built in 1912 as
its replacement.
In 1942 it closed as a hotel and has since been many things, savoury and
unsavoury, before emerging in its present state as the grand
yet homely Old Royal, Guesthouse and Gardens.
The perfect venue for:

Sara and Nic (your hosts) are aiming to provide a restful, healthy, and instructive stay for
people who are interested in our environment and reducing our impact on
it. We see the inclusion of the bookshop,
permaculture, and the in-house design service as integral to our aims
